I had dinner on Tara. They were anchored in Fort Louis
Marina, a round marina in Marigot Bay. It was great to see Mark and Lisa, and
Garrett again. They’d had a good crossing from the BVI, although they’d lost
their anchor on the way. After it had bashed up their brand new paint job.

On Saturday I went to the flea market at Time Out Boat Yard,
and bought a new foot pump and toilet seat. I have a Lavac toilet – it’s like
an airplane toilet; more suction less flushing. It’s a good one. And the
seat is like new; it still had a $96 price tag on it. I got it for two bucks. The
pump was five. There was lot’s of junk, but lots of good stuff as well. Lots of
cruisers, and a few pirates, hunting for bargains. My old neighbor Francois was
there:

On Sunday there was a carnival in Marigot. Really fun, dancing
in the streets, lots of twerking.
I’ve been to Notting Hill carnival many times, but this was
my first Caribbean carnival. Dozens of floats, making their way slowly around
Marigot. Each float had it’s own sound system and DJs. Thumping base, rocking
tunes.
The day after the carnival my batteries were flat. I used
all my battery water, bought some more and topped up my batteries. I’ve got
four fairly new house batteries, which need topping up occasionally. I’d let
the levels get way too low, but they seem to be OK.
Next week is the Heineken Regatta, a big event on St.
Martin. I’m hoping to be a spectator boat and get some day charters. In the
mean time, I’ll keep sanding Dane’s deck; it’s nearly ready for painting.
