32. Watching Birds

I managed to get work teaching English at a school in San Fernando and Tunapuna. It’s a couple of classes teaching SAT exam essay writing to US university hopefuls. I’m doing lots of traveling around Trinidad, in cars, maxi taxis, catamaran ferries, and air-conditioned buses. It’s a busy polluted stinky world – I'm missing white sandy beaches.

Port of Spain

I went on a trip to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary near Port of Spain with Pim and Hanneke and Liontien. We motored slowly in a shallow bottomed boat along rivers amongst the mangroves. We saw snakes, iguanas and lots of scarlet ibises.  It was good to get into the other kind of jungle.

Nesting in the trees

Even though the water is a bit murky, its still nice get home by dinghy.
