We made it to Port Antonio, Jamaica – after four days and
four nights at sea. 25 to 30 knot winds all the way; it took us 96
hours. We were averaging 7 knots, but reaching 10.9. We also had big seas; I surfed
too straight down a 4 – 5 meter wave and saw the bow dip down; I thought I was
going to pitchpole. We were getting lots of water in the cockpit; after the big
squall on the first night, Paul found a fish in his bed.
Errol Flynn marina
Port Antonio is beautiful; calm water and not so much wind, the Blue
Mountains in the distance. We had beers and burgers on arrival to Errol Flynn
Marina. We cleaned up the boat and did masses of very stinky laundry.
Reach Falls
After two days of putting the boat back together we went to
Reach waterfalls; lots of waterfalls and deep pools in the jungle. It was nice
to be in the mountains surrounded by green instead of blue. So nice to be swimming
in freshwater.
