110. On the Docks

Tuesday I fitted my new engine parts; a new mixing elbow and a raw water pump, new hoses and clamps. I also tightened my propeller shaft. That with the new fuel filters and a bit of a clean up, and I’m very happy with my engine.

Next should be electrics. I would really like to get a Waeco electric cool box and solve my fridge problem. They aren’t that expensive to buy; getting it to the island though would be another matter. Before that, I need to get new house batteries and a wind generator, and they are expensive. I’ll think of them while I carry on varnishing and repainting.

Being in the marina is really nice, one night though I came home to find a rat onboard. Not good. Ate my chocolate and crapped on my seat (the rat did).

I heard recently from Pim and Hanneke on S/V Nelly Rose; they made it safely all around the world to New Zealand. Nelly Rose is for sale and they’ve stopped cruising, which is sad because they were great fun to be with, but what an adventure they had, and an inspiration they are.

  1. Hello from Rain Dog, pacific seacraft 34. We are considering moving boat to cayman to work and build up our cruising kitty. My question is if you needed to pay import duty on your vessel?
    Thanks,
    Erika
