134. Stingray City

I took Arnold, Mark and another friend for a dive to the North wall. We motored through the channel, picked up a buoy, hoisted a dive flag and jumped in. Luckily one of Arnold’s friends forgot his BCD so he was our surface watch (which you need if you follow port authority rules). We went down the wall to about 90feet – beautiful coral, lots of fish; we saw Eaglerays swimming above us. Sonic Boom was a bit more rolly than Indigo’s boat; surface watch threw up (he didn’t have a good day).

We went back through the channel and on to stingray city sand bar. Lots and lots of huge stingrays, swam right up to us and the other people standing on the sand bar in about three feet of water, some feeding them squid. Stingrays don’t have teeth but they can suck really hard. I also saw a barracuda, that had plenty teeth.

133. Indigo

Blue Peter

My first dive using nitrox.  Daniel and me took the online PADI course and then went for a two-tank boat dive on the North wall with Indigo divers. Our tanks were filled with 32% oxygen, rather than the usual 21%. Chris and Kate were great, it was a fun trip, my favorite so far.

Grouper

Our first dive was Tarpon Alley and then we went to Blue Peter (named after the TV show that did some filming there). We saw lobsters and turtles and lots of sleepy stingrays. Probably taking a rest from Stingray City.

132. Spotts Bay

Lion Fish

Another dive on a new dive site – this time at Spotts Bay.  On the south coast, it’s where the cruise ships go when there’s bad weather from the north or north west. We saw turtles and an eagle ray.

131. Turtle Reef

Scuba me

Another awesome dive with Daniel; we met a very friendly turtle, saw a huge sting ray, lots of parrot fish, a porcupine fish and a stone fish.
